Promptd's pivot to mental health

Since launching Promptd, we've been working to make healthcare provider search more accessible across all specialties, from physiotherapists and psychologists to dietitians and massage therapists. The response has been encouraging: our platform has seen steady traffic growth, with practitioners in non-mental health categories each receiving several hundred visitors per month.
But growth reveals hard truths. And today, we want to share an important strategic decision with you.
The Reality of Being a Team of Two
Building a healthcare marketplace isn't just about creating great search technology. It's about building trust, curating quality providers, and ensuring every specialty area has sufficient depth to serve patients well. This requires significant resources: time to vet practitioners, effort to onboard them, and bandwidth to understand the nuances of each healthcare domain.
As a team of two, we've realized that spreading ourselves across all healthcare specialties means we can't excel in any of them. The traffic is there. The demand exists. But we don't yet have the resources to build the supply of practitioners needed across every category to create a truly valuable experience for patients.
Why Mental Health?
After careful consideration, we've decided to focus exclusively on mental health practitioners. This isn't a retreat, it's a strategic focus on where we can deliver the most value right now.
Here's why mental health makes sense:
Domain expertise: Viktoryia, my co-founder, is a psychologist-in-training. She understands the field intimately—the terminology, the therapeutic approaches, the challenges patients face when searching for care, and what makes a quality mental health profile. This expertise is invaluable and not something we can easily replicate in other specialties.
Proven traction: Our biggest clients and most engaged practitioners are in the mental health space. They've been with us from the early days, provided feedback, and helped shape the platform into what it is today. This existing foundation gives us momentum we can build on.
Critical need: Mental health care is notoriously difficult to navigate. Finding the right therapist involves considerations that go beyond credentials—therapeutic approach, cultural competency, communication style. Our natural-language search and structured profiles were built with these nuances in mind.
What This Means Going Forward
Starting immediately, we're refining our platform to serve mental health practitioners and patients better than anyone else. This means:
- Deeper specialization in mental health search filters and terminology
- More targeted outreach to psychologists, therapists, counselors, and psychiatrists
- Enhanced profile features specific to mental health practices
- Better resources and support for mental health practitioners on our platform
For practitioners in other healthcare categories currently on Promptd: your profiles will remain active during this transitional period. This will give you time to adjust to the changes and migrate data off Promptd. Should you face any issues, please reach out to our support team at support@promptd.com.
This Isn't Goodbye to Other Specialties
Let's be clear: this is a strategic pause, not a permanent exit. As Promptd grows, as we gain more resources and expand our team, there's nothing stopping us from re-entering other healthcare sectors. In fact, we plan to.
But right now, doing one thing exceptionally well beats doing many things adequately. We'd rather build the best mental health provider search platform than a mediocre general healthcare directory.
Our Commitment
To our users searching for mental health care: expect a more refined, thoughtful platform tailored to your needs.
To mental health practitioners: expect more attention, better features, and a team that truly understands your field.
To everyone who has supported Promptd so far: thank you for believing in our mission. This pivot doesn't change what we're building toward—a world where finding the right healthcare provider is simple, transparent, and accessible to everyone. We're just taking a more focused path to get there.
