Québec Mental Health Crisis Resources: Who to Call in 2026
If you or someone near you is in immediate danger
Call 911 right now. If you are thinking about suicide or you are in a mental health crisis, call or text 988. It is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, every day, in English and French.
This page lists the crisis and mental health support lines that serve Québec, organized by the situation you are facing and by region. Every number below was checked against the organization's official source in June 2026. We keep it current because an out of date crisis page can send someone to a number that no longer answers.
You do not need a diagnosis, a referral or insurance to call any of these lines. Most are answered by trained crisis workers, they are confidential, and many offer text and chat as well as phone. If you are not sure which one fits, start with 988 or call Info-Social by dialling 811 and choosing option 2. They will listen and point you to the right place.

How to choose the right line
What is the difference between 988 and 811? Call 988 when there are thoughts of suicide or you are in acute emotional crisis right now. Call 811 and choose option 2 (Info-Social) for psychosocial support and referral when the situation is serious but not an immediate emergency, such as ongoing distress, a difficult life event, or not knowing where to turn. Both are free, confidential and answered 24/7.
What if I live outside Montréal? Use the crisis centres in your region section above. Every administrative region of Québec is covered by a community crisis centre, and 988, 811 and the suicide prevention line all reach the whole province.
Are these lines confidential? Yes. The lines on this page are confidential, and several are anonymous. Crisis workers are there to listen and help, not to judge. The only time confidentiality may be set aside is when someone's life is in immediate danger.
It is not an emergency, but I want ongoing help. Where do I start? Crisis lines are a first step, not a treatment plan. When you are ready to find longer term support, it helps to understand how therapy works and is regulated in Canada and how to find affordable therapy. When you want to look for a therapist who fits your needs, language and budget, you can browse providers across Québec on promptd.
This page is an information resource and is not a substitute for professional or emergency care. Details can change, so confirm hours and numbers with each organization. If you notice something out of date, let us know. Maintained by the promptd team. Last reviewed June 2026.
