About

Painful psychological and emotional symptoms are a form of communication from the psyche and the body. I seek to understand what a client's symptoms may be saying in order to best respond to the needs they express.

How I work

I see therapy as a process of self-exploration, understanding, and acceptance that can open up space to let go of old and repetitive patterns and self-concepts. The context of a warm and supportive therapeutic relationship makes it possible to uncover a liberating new array of thoughts, feelings and ways of being. In this work I approach my clients, and encourage my clients to approach themselves, with both compassion and curiosity, trusting in their innate ability to change and to grow.

My therapeutic style and approach

I am psychodynamically trained, which I consider to be a form of witnessing and accompaniment; the sessions reveal their own structure, and in my experience we end up following the threads we need to follow. I strive to think and practice from an anti-oppressive framework, recognizing that individuals face not only their own personal challenges, but also inherit the struggles of the wider social and political contexts they inhabit.
