About Promptd

In 2025, a therapist and a software engineer set out to raise the bar for mental health marketplaces

We looked at how people search for mental health services and thought: this could be so much better.

We bring tech to mental health so that finding the right provider feels as intuitive and personal as the experience you get on your favourite apps. Today, we represent clinics and independent mental health professionals across Montreal and its surrounding cities, in-person and online.

And we're just getting started.

What our users say

Spent close to two years trying to find a therapist. Waitlists, no callbacks, people who weren't the right fit. Ended up finding someone through Promptd in like a week.

Nadia

I run a small law firm and needed a family mediator for a case. I did not find anyone in my network so I tried Promptd and found someone pretty quickly.

Catherine

Nice to actually see prices listed upfront. Saves you from having to call around just to figure out what you can afford.

Your questions, answered

How does therapy help ADHD?

Therapy builds skills for attention, planning, and emotion regulation while addressing sleep, routines, and stress. You will learn environmental tweaks and tools to manage tasks and motivation. Coordination with medical providers supports medication decisions when relevant. For adolescents, Teen therapists care can tailor strategies to school demands and family routines.

Which approaches are used for ADHD therapy?

CBT therapy is the most common starting point, targeting procrastination, negative self-talk, and disorganization through structured exercises. DBT therapy can help when emotional dysregulation is central. Behavioral strategies, skills coaching, and mindfulness-based approaches are also used. Plans include small experiments and tracking so you can see what actually works in your daily routines.

What type of therapist is best for ADHD?

Look for a therapist with specific ADHD experience, not just a general practice that lists it. Psychologists can provide both therapy and formal diagnosis. Psychotherapists and social workers can provide ongoing skills-based support. Ask how they structure sessions for ADHD clients, whether they use concrete tools between visits, and how they track progress.

What is the difference between an ADHD coach and an ADHD therapist?

An ADHD therapist addresses the emotional and psychological side: anxiety, self-esteem, relationship patterns, and coping strategies. An ADHD coach focuses on practical systems: time management, accountability, goal setting, and daily structure. Coaches are not regulated in the same way and cannot diagnose or treat mental health conditions. Some people benefit from both, and some therapists blend coaching techniques into their sessions.

Can a psychologist diagnose ADHD?

Yes. Licensed psychologists can diagnose ADHD through clinical interviews, standardized tests, and rating scales. A formal diagnosis can support workplace or school accommodations and clarify whether co-occurring conditions like anxiety or learning differences are also present. If you think you need an assessment, start with ADHD assessments to find providers.

Does OHIP cover ADHD therapy?

OHIP does not cover private psychotherapy or psychology sessions for ADHD. However, psychiatrist visits are covered, and many employer-sponsored extended health plans reimburse sessions with registered psychologists, psychotherapists, or social workers. Some community health centres and hospital programs offer publicly funded ADHD support. Check your specific plan for eligible providers and annual caps.

Is ADHD therapy different for adults vs children?

Yes. Adult ADHD therapy tends to focus on executive function strategies, workplace performance, relationship patterns, and processing the impact of late diagnosis. Child and adolescent work emphasizes routines, caregiver coaching, school coordination, and developmentally appropriate skill building. If you are looking for support for a child, child therapists can help you find age-appropriate providers.

What should I look for in an ADHD assessment?

A thorough ADHD assessment integrates clinical interviews, standardized measures, and input from multiple settings like home and work or school. It should rule out overlapping conditions such as anxiety, depression, or learning differences. If academic accommodations are the goal, a psychoeducational assessment may be more comprehensive. For a focused ADHD evaluation, start with ADHD assessments.
