About Promptd

In 2025, a therapist and a software engineer set out to raise the bar for mental health marketplaces

We looked at how people search for mental health services and thought: this could be so much better.

We bring tech to mental health so that finding the right provider feels as intuitive and personal as the experience you get on your favourite apps. Today, we represent clinics and independent mental health professionals across Montreal and its surrounding cities, in-person and online.

And we're just getting started.

What our users say

Spent close to two years trying to find a therapist. Waitlists, no callbacks, people who weren't the right fit. Ended up finding someone through Promptd in like a week.

Nadia

I run a small law firm and needed a family mediator for a case. I did not find anyone in my network so I tried Promptd and found someone pretty quickly.

Catherine

Nice to actually see prices listed upfront. Saves you from having to call around just to figure out what you can afford.

Jordan

The messaging suggested a few other therapists I could reach out to. My first pick didn't end up working out, but one of the suggestions was actually a great fit.

Samira

I'm an international student at McGill and figuring out what my insurance covers was confusing. On here I could just filter for who takes my plan.

Léo

The filters are really useful. I found someone who speaks my language, is nearby, and takes my insurance without having to dig through a bunch of websites.

Your questions, answered

How does counselling help with depression?

Counselling targets mood, sleep, and energy using activation, thought work, and relationship support. Plans prioritize small actions that restore momentum, connection, and meaning. Anxiety therapists can help when worry co-occurs, and ACT therapy can help reconnect with values when motivation is low.

Which therapies help depression?

Evidence-based options include DBT Therapy, CBT Therapy, problem-solving, and interpersonal work. Care adapts to culture, goals, and seasonality.

How long does depression counselling take?

Many people notice early gains within weeks as routines improve. Plans prepare for dips with relapse-prevention strategies you can apply quickly. Grief counselling may be integrated when loss contributes to symptoms, and Addiction counselling counselling can be relevant when substance use is interacting with mood.

When should I see a depression specialist instead of a general counsellor?

If symptoms are persistent, severe, or recurring, a specialist can be helpful. You can filter for Depression counselling. If symptoms began after childbirth, Postpartum depression support is a more targeted option.

How does therapy help depression?

Therapy supports mood, sleep, and energy with skills for activation, thought patterns, and relationships. You will practice small steps that restore momentum and meaning, track progress simply, and plan for setbacks. Care coordinates with physicians when needed. If you want a structured, skills-based approach, CBT therapy is often part of depression care.

Which approaches are used?

Common methods include behavioral activation, CBT, problem-solving therapy, and interpersonal approaches. Plans adapt to culture, strengths, and seasonality. Brief handouts keep next steps clear.

How long does it take?

Many notice gains within weeks when routines improve and practice is consistent. Your provider will tailor actions for low-energy days and help you rebuild motivation gently. Some people choose Online therapy sessions to reduce friction and keep consistency.

What if motivation is low?

Care uses tiny, values-based steps and accountability to rebuild momentum. Plans emphasize compassion and realistic pacing to prevent overwhelm while keeping change going. If depression is closely linked to trauma symptoms, Trauma and PTSD therapists support may also be important.

How do I start?

An intake clarifies history, risks, and priorities. You will get early actions for sleep and activity and schedule follow-ups at a manageable cadence. For new parents, Postpartum depression therapists may offer specialized support.
